MOVING FORWARD

OBEClust is the European Cluster of Obesity Research Projects, a multidisciplinary European cluster that brings together nine EU-funded research projects (with partners such as UKRI and SERI) to jointly address the obesity crisis in Europe. It represents an unprecedented collaboration between projects working from different perspectives — prevention, risk factors, behavioural interventions, lifestyle, nutrition, and related diseases — with the aim of maximising the scientific and societal impact of their results.
The cluster seeks to strengthen research, align methodologies, share expertise and resources, and ultimately develop evidence-based solutions that can influence policies, practices, and strategies for the prevention and treatment of obesity across different population groups throughout Europe.
Some of the projects within OBEClust focus on areas such as the prevention and management of childhood and adolescent obesity, early risk identification across the life course, personalised nutrition and lifestyle interventions, research on biological, social, and environmental determinants, and the monitoring of diet-related non-communicable diseases.
Among them, Premium Research participates in the eprObes project, which focuses on the early prevention of obesity, from preconception through to adulthood.
OBEClust represents a collaborative European response to tackling obesity from multiple angles, seeking integrated solutions with long-term impact.
On Thursday, 5 February 2026, from 11:00–12:30 CET, OBEClust is organising a webinar for professionals in the field, focused on advancing a shared, evidence-based understanding of obesity as a chronic multifactorial disease.
The aim of the webinar is to strengthen understanding of obesity as a chronic disease and to explore how improved knowledge and conceptual framing can reduce stigma, enhance research relevance, and support coherent, system-level responses across Europe.
